NORTH PORT, Fla. (SNN) — North Port is launching its road rehabilitation project on Toledo Blade Boulevard. The $3.2 million project will resurface the roadway and concrete turn lanes.
“Toledo Blade is one of our main roads in the city. It takes a lot of traffic going from 41 to 75, It also takes a lot of truck traffic. That roads has taken a lot of abuse and it is starting to show that abuse,” Chuck Speake, the North Port public works director said.
The project will have two phases. The first phase will run from Interstate 75 down to Price Boulevard. The second phase will run from Price Boulevard down to Bobcat Trail.
Construction for both phases begins Thursday night. During construction, roads will turn into one lane in each direction.
“The work will be all at night so we will try to impact traffic the least amount. We do ask the travelers be aware that work is going on at night and be cautious when they drive through the work zone,” Speake said.
The project is expected to be finished by the third week of February. The city said they plan on developing a third phase, if the commission approves their budget plan.
