SARASOTA – I set out to find the secret to Yoder’s Restaurant’s success. My mouth was watering, but their lips were sealed.
“I can’t tell you,” said manager Brian Emrich.
What they will divulge is that the baking process and recipes have been passed down through generations.
“Everything is made from scratch; we make it with a lot of love,” said head baker, Ida Yoders.
And a lot of whip cream, as you’ll see in a moment. Tucked back the kitchen you can smell the fresh ingredients marrying each other to form those legendary flavors. Bakers skillfully craft these desserts like some sweet symphony pulling you in on almost all your senses.
No dollop shall be wasted around here. With freshly prepped pie crusts around every corner, you get the feeling this place is setting up for the big one.
“We hit 10 thousand last year, just for Thanksgiving,” said Emrich.
Emrich says they’re already on track to surpass those pie sales this holiday season. Peanut butter cream pie seems to be voted must popular, but there’s something to be said for their take on the classic pumpkin pie.
“There’s no other place like our pumpkin, it’s like a custard pumpkin,” said Emrich.
The proof will be the lines that wraps for blocks with people waiting to pick their own slice up. Visit https://www.yodersrestaurant.com/ to secure your pie!
