SARASOTA, Fla. (SNN) — Bobby Jones Golf Club has been closed for renovations since March of last year. The course is reopening to the public on Saturday.

The renovations feature a 18-hole course, chipping green, driving range and wetlands to protect the environment.

“This carries about 5,800 hundred gallons of urban runoff that comes through the course, putting in the wetlands cleans the water before it goes into robin bay,” Mayor Liz Alpert said.

Beginning Saturday, the course will be open to the public, with Sarasota residents receiving a 40% discount.

“Our goal is golf for everyone. We want Bobby Jones Golf Club to be accessible for everyone in the community,”  David Evangelista, the club’s manager said
